Today Eagle Iron Works covers a 4-block area just north of the Des Moines River in Des Moines, Iowa. Every machine sold is designed, fabricated, & assembled here at the Eagle factory. Eagle’s foundry and manufacturing facilities are improving through expansion and purchases of state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.

Eagle’s Application and Service personnel offer straightforward advice for equipment troubleshooting and sizing, as well as recommendations for maximizing production.

Representative feed samples can be sent to Eagle for evaluation in our in-house laboratory for precise determination of Eagle equipment required to overcome the most challenging applications. A representative 10 lb. sample is all that is required for sand analysis or an examination of coarse material contaminates.

Manufacturing/ Fabrication
Cast-Iron, Ductile-Iron and Ni-Hard castings are produced in Eagle’s own foundry. The ductile-iron castings await machining for end products such as; gear cases, gears-pinions-shafts, stub shafts, drive assemblies, etc. Eagle’s Ni-Hard wear parts offer superior resistance to wear due to a high-nickel compound that provides 600 Brinell hardness.

After castings are poured in Eagle’s foundry they are sent to Eagle’s machine shop. Here stub shafts, gears, gear cases, stainless steel wear sleeves, etc. are machined by experienced machinists, some with over 20 years of experience.

Eagle’s strict quality control standards require that all Eagle gear reducers are pre-run, forwards and backwards, to check for any defects. Customers will also note a small tag attached to each reducer detailing the exact thousandths of an inch dimension that the shaft and reducer were aligned to provide the most efficient operation.

Eagle’s welding department prides itself by the craftsmanship of its certified welders. The ample-roomed welding bays allow for multiple fabrication of 50’ long classifying tanks as well as fabrication for 100’ dredge ladders. All conveyor shafts feature submerged arc welding for the flights, paddle spuds, and flange ends. Conveyor shafts are then placed into a 50’ lathe to check and correct any distortion caused by the welding of the flights and paddle spuds. Flanges on both ends of shafts are then machined to insure the flanges are parallel.

Eagle’s assembly department provides the final assembly of a machine’s components and performs the final quality control check before shipment. All machine components are prefit prior to shipping. Even the smallest components such as discharge chutes and washer supports are pre-assembled for proper fit. Structure for individual machines and complete plants are also prefit to minimize customer installation & erection times.

More than 90% of all Eagle parts are manufactured in Eagle’s own foundry, machine shop, and fabrication departments. Machines are backed up by Eagle’s vast warehouse stocked with “Ready to Ship” parts to keep unforeseen downtimes to a minimum. Eagle also provides replacement parts for machines more than 50 years old, due to Eagle’s inventory of previous patterns for old castings and complete retrieval of past designs.
