Rockbridge Stone Products May 3, 2004 12:00 PM In 1993, Rockbridge Stone Products purchased our first crusher. Obviously, the equipment at that time probably had more value as an antique than we had wished for, being that it was manufactured in 1917! For us, with that machine, a GREAT DAY of crushing would produce 1000 tons. To produce THAT MUCH tonnage, a crew would consist of a minimum of 10 people. (Of course, this also included a lot of 'life support' and heroic efforts to continue to breathe life into the machine itself.) This was partly because of the machine itself and partly because of the location. Things were not nearly as "handy" as they presently are, so we wasted a lot of valuable time hauling materials from the pit area to the crusher area. Soon, we decided there had to be a better way. With time, we learned how to lay things out and added a used Eagle 1000 Crusher and started pursuing "on-site" crusher jobs. With the Eagle we were able to accomplish so very much. Our first on-site job was crushing rock and doing the site work for a new Wal-Mart Superstore in Bluefield, Va. Impressed by the abilities of the 1000 and needing even more capacity, we added an Eagle 1200 to our inventory in 2002 and continued to increase our on-site crushing abilities. Now we can crush it all: asphalt, concrete and stone. We have done work with these machines here in Virginia as well as going to jobs in Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia. (Future work is already scheduled for areas in Kentucky and Indiana.) These two machines not only do the work we need done on the site, but they are very "road friendly" and travel with very little hassle. This spring, we were able to purchase a new 1400 Eagle Crusher from Capitol Equipment Company in Albany, New York and couldn't be more pleased! It is a very versatile stand-alone machine. The operations whom have worked with it have nothing but praise for the ease and reliability which they have experienced in working with the 1400. It works wonderfully for all our jobs at our quarries. We find it a easy task to be able to move it from our main Glasgow, Va. plant to our newest quarry in Montery, Va. We're also able to manufacture five products from one machine. The 1400 crushes 3000 tons per day with a team of only 2 people as well as giving us the ability to manufacture 5 products from one machine. We've been able to eliminate hauling costs by utilizing this "In-Pit Crushing System. We've seen decreased maintenance problems. Buying from Capitol Equipment has proved to be a great move as well. Everyone we have dealt has been most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable- particularly Jim Clarke and Seamus Crotty, our dealer reps, . Capitol also has an exceptional Parts and Service department, according to Jimmy Coffey, our Executive Vice President of Operations. He feels that Joe, the gentleman he usually speaks with, really KNOWS his product, is up-to-date on any improvements, can help diagnosis over the phone and always delivers parts, etc. in a timely manner. We feel we have gotten, the best value for our $ in purchasing these Eagle Crushers. Overall, we've SIGNIFICANTLY reduced our operating costs and increased our profitability by purchasing our Eagle Crusher equipment from Capitol Equipment! |
